Importance of Customer Support

Importance of Customer Support

It’s an era when the corporate trends change in a flash. The challenge for today’s companies is to react to these changes fast. Not just react, but act as well! Besides reacting fast and acting smart, the companies need to be swift ‘n’ smart to maintain a good relationship with their customers, despite all the changes.

And for this, a company needs a strong Customer Support system, which will ensure that there’s someone present 24/7 to listen to its customers and address their needs, queries, and problems. The bottom-line is that you might be offering top-drawer products or services, if you don’ provide apt customer support services, your business results would be nothing but appalling!

Recently, an ISP service provider company carried out a survey to check out their customers’ preferences. The survey showed that 45% of their customers value Customer Support more than the speed, price, or data allowance. The same survey revealed that only 5% customers will stop using their services if they reduce the speed, or increase the price. But a whopping 80% of them will stop using the company’s services if the quality of its customer support services plunges even by a 5%. This accentuates the importance of customer support services in not just retaining customers, but fetching more…and more!

Well, the corporate support business is suffused with some misconceptions as well. Many people feel that customer support is all about sending a few automated emails, or making some customary calls to the customers. All this is absolutely false. In fact, customer support is a big arena that calls for specialized services and expert professionals. Customer support works with a broader vision. Those who understand this know the importance of each call made to the customers and every mail written to them.

Customer support encompasses communication and interaction with customers through a variety of channels. These channels include Call Centers, Web based support, Live Chats, Helpdesk Support, Toll Free tele-calls, Direct Responses, Infomercials, Conferences, and Virtual Receptionist. All these channels have a definite role to play, and if these roles are carried out craftily, your business will get a lot more zip!
